Year 5 - Science
Last week our Year 5 class had a virtual science video call from Ava Garside - the 14-year-old winner of the National STEM competition. Determined to combat the climate crisis, Ava created an air quality pin badge sensor which can detect the healthiest route to work or school.
The children were set a challenge to use GPS and satellites to come up with interesting inventions. They came up with some amazing ideas and had a brilliant time.
This included a pin that could sense if you were unwell linked to an app which gave you advice on treatment. A pet tracker for cats, so they don't go missing and 'teenage trackers' hidden in pop sockets on phones to make sure they were safe at night!
