Y4 visit to the Manchester Science and Industry Museum

The Year 4 pupils had a fantastic visit to the Manchester Science and Industry Museum yesterday.   The main focus of the visit was the electricity of science topic.

The children went to the experiment zone where there was lots of opportunities for the children to take part in interactive activities.  For example there was a life size Mini Cooper car on a chain, which could be lifted up and down by using the gears; Colour mixing where sound beams were affected by the children performing dance moves; Circuit city, which showed us how Manchester was lit up by an enormous circuit, the children were able to explore how the switches and batteries were used for power.

Children were also able to generate electricity using heat with a radio where one child cycled and the other wore a helmet and music was played into the helmet by the power generated from the cycle.
