We would like to hold a sponsored read between February 9th and March 9th 2018, in conjunction with World Book Day, and to fit in with the half term holiday. The idea is to encourage our students to read more and have fun reading whilst raising funds for a much needed library space.
We would like to create a welcoming, comfortable space filled with inspiring books for our students and parents to be able to use as well as teachers being able to take small reading groups in, a place where the children will want to come. We are trying to raise at least £6000 to facilitate this. We are 10% of the way there and will hold other events to help raise funds.
So wherever you go and whomever you see (friends or family), please ask them if they would like to sponsor your child to read, even for just 5 minutes. Your child could read to the person sponsoring them. Just think of how much reading your child could do even over the half term holiday!
Anything with words counts as reading, whether it is a comic, recipe, book, magazine, signs, for as long or as little as they want, it all counts. We have different options for sponsorship, whether it is per 5 minutes, per book or a maximum pledge. All money raised will go directly to the library fund. Checks can be made payable to BVPS PTFA. Please bring back your forms and money by March 16th 2018. It will be nice to see what the children are reading to put forward to the book buying team.
Check out the library fund totaliser in the school office entrance to check the progress. Any spare change can also be put in the wishing well in the entrance too! We are on our way!!! We hope you will embrace this challenge and have fun reading with your children.
Thank you as always for your support, happy reading,
