The school follows the agreed syllabus for Religious Education which is devised by local multi-faith groups of people (SACRE).
Children focus on Christianity and also study aspects of other faiths. They develop an awareness of a range of religious beliefs and practices and the effects these have upon lifestyles. Our children learn from and reflect upon their own experiences and those of others. They are encouraged to think about aspects of their own lives, which are important to them and begin to consider some ultimate questions. To further develop our work in RE, children visit places of religious worship. Children in reception class visit our local church, St John’s the Baptist. We also welcome visitors from different faiths into school to enhance the children’s learning.
Religious Education and collective worship are a statutory part of the curriculum. Parents do have the right to withdraw their children from these, in consultation with the Head teacher.
