Show What You Grow Winners

The Kids Club staff and pupils from Burscough Village Primary School were delighted to be a part of this year’s show what you grow competition, which was held on 11th July.

The event was organised by the Community Food Growing Project of West Lancs CVS (as part of the Active West Lancs programme) in conjunction with West Lancs Allotment Federation and West Lancashire College, and was funded by Upholland Tawd Vale Lions.

Mrs Deidre Sadgrove, Kids Club Manager said, all of the 12 schools who were entered arrived and set up their produce, work displays and scarecrows. Our children were very excited and proud to be a part of the whole event. The children enjoyed mixing with the pupils from the other schools and showing off their display. They were also talking to the Mayor and Lady Mayoress of West Lancashire about what they had been involved in doing to enter the competition, they then presented them with a bottle of Burscough Village Primary School’s own homemade produce of Elderflower cordial!

Burscough Village Primary’s entries did extremely well – being placed second in four of the competitions, first in two of the produce entries and a second and third place awarded for home produce and their very own Elderflower cordial.

One of our Year 1 pupils, Ava was placed 2nd for her Show What you Grow Activity book, which is a fantastic achievement for a 6 year old!
