Here at Burscough Village Primary School our children are taught to speak Spanish. In KS1, children rehearse simple greetings and sing Spanish songs on a daily basis. Once a week the infant children join together for a Spanish singing session.
Children in KS2 are taught for an hour a week by our peripatetic teacher, Señora Culshaw. Children enjoy taking an active part in language lessons and spend much of their time in Spanish lessons speaking, listening and interacting - more than in most other subjects. They take part in role-plays, conversations and question and answer work, sing songs and play games, take turns and experiment creatively with language.
The school takes part in an eTwinning project where we currently have links with a Spanish school in Valladolid, Spain. Some of our children have been corresponding via letters, sending each other videos and photos and generally learning a great deal from each other!
